The first word that comes to mind when thinking about how to describe the Street Outlaws season finale is “heated.” Between the fights, the crashes, the tensions and the bets there’s no better word for it! Going into the episode we didn’t know who would be the new “Gatekeeper,” if Daddy Dave would keep his #1 spot and if not, who would be the driver to take it? We had 4 very viable contenders for the #1 spot between Daddy Dave, Monza, Big Chief and Murder Nova! Not to mention we had to figure out what Farmtruck’s been up to with the truck? We had a lot of questions get answered with this episode
We were introduced to Kayla Morton, a new aspiring List driver. She showed up in Big Chief and Murder Nova’s shop to have her Fox Body Mustang Dynoed so she could call out a race for the 10-spot. Farmtruck decided to pit her against BoostedGT who was also hoping to get on The List. Meanwhile Big Chief had to have the awkward conversation of calling out his best friend but competitor, Murder Nova. They worked through it alright and left no heated tensions.
Where it really started to heat up was the first race night. 1st up was Kayla vs. BoostedGT for the “Gatekeeper” position. It was neck-and-neck off the starting line, but Kayla quickly started to pull ahead until she lost control of the car. She weaved across Boosted’s lane over the curb and rolled her car into the wheat field. Everyone at the race sprinted out to her aid to make sure she was okay. She popped out of the driver side unscathed but sure to be a little stiff the next day. Needless to say, Boosted was the new Gatekeeper.
Next up was the race for the 1-spot between Daddy Dave and Jerry Monza. Both cars blew their tires off right at the light and it quickly became a pedal fest. Daddy Dave started to lose control of his car but Monza, confident in Dave’s driving, trusted The Sonoma wouldn’t cross into his lane and so he held his car straight. Daddy Dave swerved off onto the curb damaging his truck’s suspension and gave Monza the #1 spot. This is where the controversy began.
Big Chief and Murder Nova’s whole plan was that the winner of their race would then shoot to make their way through the #2 and #1 spot. With Daddy Dave’s Sonoma out of commission the plan was ruined. Big Chief and Murder Nova decided they wanted to wait until The Sonoma was ready to race again before they raced. The rest of the OKC 405 crew was not having it! Daddy Dave and the rest of the crew started claiming that Big Chief and Murder Nova were too scared of the road to race after seeing two cars lose control. That was not the case, but after enough ragging Big Chief and Murder Nova caved and raced. It was a tight race, both hooked and stayed straight with Big Chief winning by half a car length.
Race night was over and it was time to take a week and recuperate before the last race night of the season. Daddy Dave had a good amount of damage to fix before the next weekend. Varley had to install new headers before calling out BoostedGT for the 10-spot. Farmtruck drove out to Kansas to pick up a brand new custom-built 1,100 horsepower engine for the truck to get it ready for next season.
Race night came and Big Chief was ready to shoot for the top. Daddy Dave was itching for a chance to take back the 405 crown but had to hold his position against Big Chief first. At the same time we had Andrade calling out Dominator and Varley calling out BoostedGT.
After installing new headers in the Gold Car, Varley didn’t account for the car pulling more air and ran the car too lean on fuel. The Gold Car sputtered down the road giving Boosted the victory. After feeling a little extra confidence Boosted called out Kamikaze and the Elco. It had been a year since Boosted last raced The Elco and was looking for a little vengeance. He didn’t get it though. Kamikaze took off like a rocket and Boosted’s car crawled down the line. There is something majorly wrong with Boosted’s car and he has to get it taken care of before calling anyone out. Next up was Andrade Jr. who with his Cutty knocked Dominator back down a spot to number 8.
From there it was time for Big Chief and Murder Nova to put their plan to take the #1 and #2 spots back into action. There was one big problem. Big Chief blew his tires off at the light and The Sonoma made a solid pass. If you give the Sonoma any advantage you can count it a loss. This killed their plan right out of the gate. With Big Chief stuck at #3 Daddy Dave wanted redemption against Monza.
Everyone was saying that if Daddy Dave hadn’t hit the curb the previous week, The Sonoma would have won. That Monza was #1 due to a fluke. Monza was ready to prove everyone wrong. Both cars blew their tires off just like the last race and it was a pedal fest. At that point it was up to the drivers to determine the race. Monza was able to pedal his car up faster and pulled ahead by a single car length.
With Monza at the top of the OKC Street Outlaws List we’ve got another exciting season ahead of us. We’ll see a reborn Farmtruck, new drivers and more exciting action. We might see a new sleeper in Farmtruck’s Hearse and we’re sure to see some exciting upgrades in Chuck and Varley’s Mustangs! Don’t forget about us in the off-season! We’ll do our best to keep you in the loop with what the drivers are up to!
